Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy
Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy is the specialized assessment and treatment of symptoms and impairments involving the tissues and function of the pelvic floor. The pelvic floor has an important role in supporting the uterus, prostate, bladder and rectum as well as controlling urination, bowel movements and sexual function. Your initial assessment will include an in-depth health history, discussion of current problem, observation and physical examination. This may include both external and internal examination of the pelvic floor tissues and joints. Based on our findings and your goals, we’ll develop a treatment plan that may include education, therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, muscle stimulation, soft tissue massage, or other modalities. Incontinence is common but not normal! Kegels are not the answer for everyone. Find out which pelvic floor exercises are right for you and if you are doing them correctly with pelvic floor physiotherapy.
