Osteopathy is a hands-on, non-invasive therapy that facilitates self-healing. Its main emphasis is on the structural and functional integrity of the body. Using the laws of nature, mechanics, and a thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology, treatment addresses the musculoskeletal system. Subsequently, the client experiences a liberation of the homeostatic mechanisms, previously tasked with accommodating the somatic burden.
Manual practitioners use a variety of hands-on physical treatments. These include soft tissue techniques, osteoarticular joint mobilization, cranial osteopathy, visceral manipulation, strain/counter strain technique, spinal manipulation, muscle energy techniques, myofascial release technique, and trigger point therapy.
When treatment is employed together with exercise, dietary, and occupational practices, clients are able to recover from pain, disease, and injury. Prior to treatment, we’ll perform a thorough assessment that includes a review of your health history. Then we’ll create your individualized treatment plan.
Osteopathic Manual Therapy is a holistic practice, and as such takes into consideration all functions of the body and their interrelationship.
