This Accessibility Statement describes how Body Harmonics provides movement and health services in a manner that respects the dignity, independence, integration and equal opportunity of people with disabilities.
At Body Harmonics we’re committed to offering our services to people with disabilities whenever possible and safe to do so. As our company grows we’ll continue to work towards accommodating individual needs and removing barriers that may prevent access and benefit from our services.
Because we are strongly committed to accessibility, we have made efforts to design our website in accordance with the internationally-recognized Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level A website requirements. People with visual impairments may elect to view our website in high contrast design mode by selecting the relevant button in the top left corner of our website.
Our Flagship Centre, located at 672 Dupont Street, Suite 406 in Toronto, is fully wheelchair accessible. The main doors to the building are equipped with automatic openers. There are no stairs to navigate, and our suite is easily accessible via elevator. Our Centre is spacious and all rooms—including studio/private rooms, change rooms, treatment rooms and reception area—are easy to maneuver.
There’s also a wheel chair accessible restaurant on the main floor of the building.
Movement and health services
We believe that the movement and health services we offer should be as accessible as possible to benefit the widest range of people.
We’re continually innovating to meet the needs of diverse populations with specialized classes and services. Our Neuro series of classes, which is geared to those with neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s and multiple sclerosis, is a good example of this. For more information about this program and others like it, please contact us or email Nancy McKinnon, Head of Neuro programs, directly.
To ensure clients derive the greatest benefit from our services, our teachers are trained to modify exercises appropriately so that a diverse range of people can participate as fully and safely as possible. Classes are also categorized by level of difficulty and focus making it easier for clients to select the most appropriate class. For those interested in a personalized Pilates & Movement program, we offer private, semi-private and small group training that caters specifically to individual client needs and goals. This can be a good choice for people with disabilities who need or want a more customized program. Learn more.
Our health clinicians—ranging from registered massage therapists to physiotherapists—are qualified to assist a broad range of clients and health conditions. Check out our Health Clinic services to learn more or contact us to discuss your needs and book an appointment.
As educators we place a high priority on continuous learning. As a result we provide regular in-house training to ensure our staff stays current—both in terms of the latest in movement and health science, and also in terms of how to support people with disabilities effectively and appropriately. All of our teachers hold a Body Harmonics Pilates & Movement Teacher Training and/or Specialist diploma, in addition to having other related qualifications. The art and science of identifying client needs, adapting exercises appropriately and working to remove barriers is integrated throughout our educational curriculum. Our health clinicians are highly experienced and professionally designated. Many have also completed Body Harmonics Teacher Training. Meet our team.
We do our best to communicate with people with disabilities in ways that take into account their disability. When asked, we’ll provide information about our organization and its services, in accessible formats or with communication supports.
