Pilates Industry Facts

Pilates is growing rapidly across North America and around the world. Instructors in both Mat Work and Equipment (Reformer, Cadillac, Chair) are in high demand to teach in health clubs, studios and rehabilitation environments. Hourly rates vary in established studios ranging from $15 to $40 per hour. This varies widely according to the facility and its location. Some instructors opt to work as independent contractors and are usually paid in one of two methods. They may earn a percentage of the amount the club or studio is taking in. Or, they may keep 100% of class fees and pay the studio an hourly rental fee.

Pricing for classes and private instruction

Group Pilates classes range in price depending on location, length and type of class. $15 per class for mat classes is fairly standard for a group ranging from 5 to 20. Private and semi-private instruction ranges from $35-$100+ per session. The average price range for one-on-one training varies by geographical area, but typically lies between $50 to $70 per private session.

Opportunities in the health and wellness fields

Many rehabilitation centers including hospitals and private clinics are looking for well-qualified Pilates instructors with a medical background (PT, PT Assistant, Nursing, MD, etc.) and/or specialized training in rehabilitative and post rehabilitative protocols.
